My friend was just diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia and they said they caught it fairly early.?
I was wondering what her chances of survival are and what her life will be like and when she’ll know if she is responding to treatment.
It depends on her age and the type of Leukemia. Her chances are likely pretty good. Most kids are put into chemical remission in the first few days of treatment, but treatment is usually about 3 years or so long. She will lose her hair and get very sick. The best thing you can do for her is to stick by her through the entire thing. Most people are right there with fund raisers and support in the very beginning but tend to back off after a short time. She will be sick throughout her treatment–support her. Bring her magazines, nail polishes, whatever she likes often and regularly.
