Perfect Pottery for Your Pleasure

Does the primer have to fully coat the wood?

Okay, I listened to my IT professional husband- so sue me!. I had a cheap paint sprayer and it splotched primer on to the wood…my husband said, “It’s fine it doesn’t have to cover it completely.” Well, when I painted the blotchy furniture with a brush, you can see the primed spots through it and they are thicker. We bought Pottery Barn furniture it won’t wear out (we’ve tried). So after years of stained would we’re going white for my daughter’s room. I want it to be as smooth as possible for a nice finish.

If necessary, I’m planning to sand with an electric sander and start all over. Priming with Kilz oil primer (brush) this time and painting (acrylic) with brush. I even invested in better fine bristled brushes as to leave minimal paint strokes.

Any suggestions beside not listening to a non-painter would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Use a high quality Primer and apply it the same way you would apply paint. You want slow even brush strokes and even coverage. Use a high quality brush and take your time, priming is an important step and when properly done will save you time with the finish coat.
